Early Work
I first encountered the field of User Experience Design (UX) while studying Cognitive Science at UC San Diego. I was originally drawn to Cognitive Science because I was fascinated by learning how people think and behave. And when I discovered Human-Computer Interaction and the principles of User-Centered Design, I was thrilled that there is a way to apply my passion in a way that makes a difference in people's lives. I thoroughly believe that there should be a human element in everything that we make and do, and I love being able to exercise the critical thinking, problem solving, and empathy that makes that possible.
After my time at UCSD, I started gaining a connection to the design community by attending meetups like SDXD and UX Speakeasy. From there, I was able to make connections with other practitioners and get a sense of the methodologies and techniques that are values in the industry. It was at one of these events that I met the person that would eventually become my boss at Certona. In my time at Certona, I was able to apply the skills I had learned in school, and also see how design is situated in a business, instead of just a classroom. I look forward to continuing to extend my experience and knowledge, wherever life takes me!

SDXD
San Diego Experience Design is one of the most popular UX industry Meetup groups in San Diego. Here I’ve collected a few photos during my time on the board from 2014-2016
